A new business opened in Oskaloosa this week, after nearly three years of brainstorming and preparation. The furnishing store cleverly called 804 DéCOR has big plans for the community. CRI's Jason Madison dropped by the shop on opening day to see what's in store for shoppers.
Nanette Cunningham, a married mother of two, has done interior decorating for more than 20 years. She took her work to a new level on Wednesday, when she opened 804 DéCOR off of South Market in Oskaloosa. "It's just something I wanted to bring to my community and share my excitement about it. Share my passion for it.", Cunningham said. Since childhood, Cunningham has been captivated by style, design and how it reflects a person's attitude. "All it takes is one little thing to make that change and then it evolves from there. So it could be a candle, then the next thing you know you are buy a picture, and then the next thing you are buying flowers and pillows. And then it evolves and makes a statement." The store boasts a collection of knickknacks, trinkets, playthings, showpieces, souvenirs, whatnots, and thingamagiggers. "In the end anything for anyone can be found at 804 DéCOR. Since moving to Oskaloosa 15 years ago, Cunningham has taken a few notes from similar business in town. However, she hopes by putting her fresh spin on things her venture will vibe well with the community. Cunningham mentioned 804 DéCOR will offer even more in six to eight weeks. That's when a café and deli will be in place in the rear of the store, with a grand opening scheduled for April.
