Children of all ages took to the stage in Oskaloosa Monday. Auditions for the Missoula Children's Theatre rendition of the play "The Secret Garden" were held at the George Daily Auditorium.

Eighty-nine children from ages five to eighteen showed up to try out. They were split up into age groups and given a chance to showcase their talents in acting and singing. In the end, sixty were chosen for the play.

"They're one of the most talented casts i've had an opportunity to work with. We're in places i've never seen kids on wednesday's before. They're energetic, their talented, and they love what they're doing. It's been a really fun week," says tour actor and director Jocelyn Bjornstad.

The youth thespians have been practicing for four and a half hours every day this week, leading up to two performances on Saturday. A performance which the directors think will impress parents.

"The kids are going to put on a fantastic performance, it's going to be costumes it's going to be lights, we have a full set up. And they're going to see an hour long musical and it's going to be beyond their expectations," says Bjornstad.

"The Secret Garden" tells a story of a young girl who travels from India to England, encountering friends along the way to her Uncle's home.

Showtimes for the play are on Saturday, January 19th at 3 and 7 PM. Tickets for the show can be purchased at the door or at georgedaily.org.
