An Oskaloosa woman who's given much to a local non-profit organization for decades is getting help in return. The Mahaska County Outreach Thrift Store has put out a donation jar for Helen Edgington who lost her house and daughter in a house fire two weeks ago. Edgington volunteered at Mahaska County Outreach for more than 25 years.
"We're like a family up here and you help your family out. So me and the volunteers all wanted to get together and do something for Helen," says Alice Moore, Manager of Mahaska County Outreach.
All the sales that the store makes on Friday will also go to help Helen. That includes the sales from the thrift stores special Sack Sale. The sack sale offers a seven dollar price for everything a shopper can fit into a paper sack.
"All of the clothing, shoes, purses, lts, you get knickknacks in the back, housewares. That's quite a good size deal for seven dollars," says Moore.
The sack sale is going on all week. The thrift store is open from 9 to 5 Mondays through Saturdays.
