The crash happened towards the eastern edge of Oskaloosa, at the intersection of Highways 92 and 23.
A 2009 Chrysler Sebring driven by 87 year-old Robert E. Allender, of Oskaloosa, was traveling westbound in the left lane on Highway 92, approaching the intersection of Highway 23. Allender was transported to University of Iowa Hospital by a Mercy One helicopter. Greene and a passenger in the truck, Zachary L. Greene, also of Tracy, Iowa, were transported by private vehicle to Pella Regional Hospital. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa Highway Patrol. The Oskaloosa Police Department, Oskaloosa Fire Department, Mahaska County Sheriffs Department, Mahaska Health Partnership Emergency Services and the Iowa Department of Transportation all assisted at the scene.
