A special election in Mahaska County is coming up. There's an open seat on the Board of Supervisors following Ken Rozenboom's election to the Iowa Senate.

At the beginning of January, local parties met to decide who each would like to see represent them.  Democrats chose local business owner Tom Rielly.  The former mayor and state senator ran for supervisor in November, but lost to Mike Vander Molen.  Republicans selected Mark Doland, a local minister and member of the Republican Party of Iowa's State Central Committee.  CRI caught up with both candidates to find out what they say they can offer as a Mahaska County Supervisor.

For more of the candidate's views on mental health issues and highway 63 development, click on the full interviews below.
