Supporters of a local scholarship fund in Oskaloosa want the school board and you to know how to help grow the fund. The Oskaloosa High class of 1977 created a scholarship fund for qualified Oskaloosa Seniors wanting to continue their education. It's called 52577. The fund has one-hundred thirty-thousand dollars in contributions, but the people in charge of it want the scholarship to grow.

Each year, two to four students have received a scholarship of 10-thousand dollars each. But the goal is to give 'every' Oskaloosa High graduate money from the fund.

"We would like the scholarship to grow, we'd like to bring awareness to it and we would like more financial assistance," says Jeff Smith.

"If 40 classes gave $150,000, we would have about $6 million and with $6 million, every student that graduated from Oskaloosa High School that wanted to go off to college whether it be a two year or four year college, would have some chance to have some money to help achieve their dream," says David Ahmad.

If you would like to contribute to the 52577 scholarship fund, you can contact Ahmad at 641-295-5725 or Smith at 641-673-9906.
