Jonathon Gregg

Senior Producer

Jonathon Gregg is a Senior Producer for CRI and the Executive Producer of CRI Weekly News. He joined the CRI crew in May of 2009. Jonathon reports on city council and other general news. Jonathon also enjoys staying behind the camera capturing stories with other reporters.


Jonathon comes to CRI from KCRG-TV9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he worked as a reporter, news photographer, and morning editor. Before that Jonathon worked at KWWL-TV7 in Waterloo, Iowa as a weekend editor and new photographer. Jonathon has earned a Bachelors degree in communications with an emphasis in electronic media from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Jonathon also picked up a minor in theatre while studying in Waverly.


During college Jonathon worked for Wartburg Television anchoring and reporting for WTV8 News. Jonathon was also heard hosting shows and playing music on Wartburg's radio station Your Sounds KWAR 89.9 FM.


Jonathon has earned several Iowa Broadcast News Association awards for his work in College including a 1st place in General Reporting in 2008.


When Jonathon wasn't reporting for Wartburg's weekly newscasts he was writing and producing episodes for his comedy show "Late Knight." Jonathon was director of Wartburg Entertainment from 2006-2007.


Jonathon grew up in Eastern Iowa near the very small town of Charlotte. It's pronounced [shahr-lot]. He's a 2004 graduate of Northeast Community Schools in Goose Lake, Iowa. Jonathon enjoys working in Iowa but likes adventuring outside state lines. He's never been abroad but when he does he'll give Europe the "heads up!"


In his free time Jonathon listens to music, plays music on his guitars and reads when no one is looking.
